Happy birthday Mr Rankin

Central Library is very proud to host a special Edinburgh Reads celebration event for Ian Rankin’s 50th birthday. Rankin will be talking about his life and work with literary agent Jenny Brown. Join us for fizz.

Ian explains why Central Library is such an appropriate choice of venue for this special event: “Rebus was ‘born’ while I was a student in Edinburgh, during which time I haunted George IV Bridge, and especially its libraries and bookshops.  It is no accident that I chose the Central Library for the climax of that first Rebus novel and it is a pleasure to make the return journey to celebrate my 50th birthday.”

Tuesday 27 April 2010, 6.30pm – 8.30 pm. Reference Library, Edinburgh Central Library

This event is now fully booked. If you haven’t been lucky enough to reserve a place we’ll be posting a review and pictures of the event here – so you won’t miss out completely!

  1. Happy Birthday! Thanks to Ian Rankins Knots and Crosses I visited Edinburgh and would love to return there again. The Library is great indeed, and the bookshops, I haunted them with pleasure.
