Polish ebooks introduced

It’s been seven years since we launched OverDrive, our ebook and audiobook service. In that time we’ve seen lots of changes, particularly in the amount of titles available for us to buy for library elending and in the introduction of our Kids & Teen’s site. Now we’ve decided to add something new again with our first venture into foreign language stock on OverDrive.

This week a “Polish Reading Room” has been added containing Polish adult fiction and non-fiction and children’s ebooks.

There’s a great range of books by Polish authors as well as translations of English titles. There’s even a few dual language titles for children. Should the stock prove popular we’ll continue to add to this developing collection each month.

You’ll find the reading room along the menu bar of OverDrive near the top of the site (or if in portrait mode on a phone or tablet, click on the menu button (3 lines) on the right-hand side.

Polish rhyme times

In response to demand from local Polish speaking mums (and grans!) Wester Hailes Library is starting a Polish rhyme time.

It’s a great opportunity for mums who have little English to enjoy the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the library, make new friends and maybe even teach traditional Polish rhymes to non Polish speakers.

The rhyme times, for tiny babies to 4 year olds and their carers, will take place on the first Friday of each month starting on Friday 7 September at 10.30. Here’s what to expect:
