#artcore Takeover: Central Library 6th Feb 2016

It’s National Libraries Day on Saturday 6th February and Central Library will definitely be the place for entertainment and excitement.  The youth arts team #artcore are coming together once again for another bonanza of fun multiarts activities accompanied by some of Edinburgh’s finest new musical talent .

#artcore takeover

Nikki, Events Coordinator for the #artcore team, told us about the project:

I found it very exciting when I first scoped out the Library for the #artcore Takeover event.  After seeing the space, I had lots of ideas of how to use the mezzanine area to portray all the many different aspects of our project. We work with libraries across the city and wanted to challenge the perceptions of what a library can be and to show it as a multipurpose space for all ages.

The #artcore Edinburgh project is aimed at a 13-25 age group throughout the city. It aims to bring a wider arts scene to Edinburgh, and this unusual event will provide an opportunity to highlight some of the great work produced by young people, and meet some more! We will be offering a lovely feel to the space as we fill the mezzanine with several live music acts, dj sets, animation, visual arts, comics & zines, creative writing, radio, performance and lots of taster workshops to get a feel for what our Spring Programme has to offer!

On the Saturday afternoon of the Takeover, come and speak to the #artcore team if you’re interested in finding out about their Spring programme, or just want to know more about what they get up to. Alternatively, you can send #artcore an email on artcore@outoftheblue.org.uk

Pop the 6th February in your calendar and then come along on the day and join the fun. The event will kick off at 12.30pm and finish around 4:30pm – and don’t forget…  it’s FREE!
