All workplaces have their rules and procedures for staff, and libraries are no different.
We recently came across some very strange instructions for staff in our archives.

That would be me shelving books then… though I’d have to treat the dusty ones properly and not be ‘foolish’:

These are fantastic!
Imagine trying to get new staff members to write an essay – handwritten and flawless to prove that your hand is good enough for clerical tasks and not just the shelving of books.
I approve of the stiletto rule. Comfort above all else, at least during working hours.
