Five great apps for library members

smartphoneTake the library with you wherever you go with these 5 great apps

1. Zinio

Our members love Zinio. Almost too good to be true, Zinio offers free subscriptions to over 100 popular magazines including New Scientist, Rolling Stone and Good Housekeeping. If you’ve not signed up yet you’re really missing out.

2. The Edinburgh Libraries App

Our very own! Check your account on the move, and renew your books before they’re overdue. Or, out and about and seen a book you’d like to read? Just scan in the barcode to see if the library has a copy you can borrow. Then reserve the book to collect from the library next time you visit. How cool is that?

3. Overdrive

Download ebooks and audiobooks to read on your smartphone or tablet. Choose up to five titles at a time and select how long you want to borrow them for.

4. Oneclickdigital

Like Overdrive but for audiobooks, and with Oneclickdigital you can borrow up to ten titles at a time. Ideal for the gym or the morning commute.

5. PressReader

PressReader is a collection of over 4000 UK and worldwide newspapers and magazines that you can access on your own mobile device in PressReader HotSpots (such as libraries). Read over 100 UK & Irish newspapers including today’s editions of the Edinburgh Evening NewsScotsman, Scottish Daily Mail, The Press and Journal, Daily Mail, The Guardian and The Herald as well as over 100 UK magazines.

All these apps are free for library members. If you don’t yet have a library card sign up today.
