Exciting news for us fans of European crime fiction as this week BBC Radio 4 presents a whole stack of programmes under the banner Foreign bodies: an investigation into European detectives.
As well as a serialization of The Martin Beck Killings, Mark Lawson will be exploring the history of Europe through fictional detectives such as Maigret, Van der Valk and Josef Skvorecky’s Lieutenat Boruvka.
Sounds great, and it is of course another chance for us to shamelessly plug our map of international sleuths which features investigators from Europe – and beyond. We’ve got mysteries set in locations as diverse as Antarctica, North Korea and Ghana, all available from your local library. Discover a big bad world of crime writing!
