The Storylab summer reading scheme kicks off across the libraries at the end of the week and we have lined up a couple of great events to ensure it gets off to a flyer.
On Friday 29th June, storyteller Tim Porteous is popping in to Oxgangs Library with two story-time slots at 2pm and 3pm. Tim loves to share the wonderful world of folklore, mythology and legend and always spins a yarn with passion and humour. Children and families of all ages will be enthralled with his tales.

Then on Saturday 30th June, at 10.30am, acclaimed children’s author Lari Don helps launch Storylab events at Blackhall Library. Lari will read from her newest novel, Maze Running, the fourth and final book in the award-winning First Aid for Fairies series. She will chat to you about the centaurs, dragons and phoenixes in her books and will tell one of the dark legends which inspires her fiction.
Lari is no stranger to Edinburgh Libraries. Our Dyslexia Chatterbooks group really enjoyed a session with her earlier this year and take a look at the photos when she helped open the new Sighthill Library at Gate 55.
The event is aimed at 8-12 yr olds, but younger children are welcome if they don’t mind cliffhangers!
