And the ‘Library of the Year Award’ goes to… us!

The Scottish Cup isn’t the only prize heading Edinburgh’s way this week…

Last night we landed the Library of the Year accolade at the Bookseller Industry Awards ceremony in London. And we’re thrilled. Obviously!

As Library and Information Manager Liz McGettigan says, “It’s a huge honour for Edinburgh to have won this major award. We couldn’t have got here without the incredible support of all our Libraries staff, whose passion and commitment are crucial to the continuing success of the service.”

And we couldn’t have done it without you either. The fact that our libraries are so cherished by the people who use them is a huge factor in our success, so a great big thanks to all of you who use, champion and value the services we provide.

  2. Congratulations! I see from The Bookseller that Edinburgh Libraries won because of “its range of services for hard-to-reach readers, cutting-edge website and app and engaging social media activity.” And apparently there was another prize heading for Edinburgh because “Darrell Thrush-Denning of Blackwell’s in Edinburgh won manager of the year after a ‘clever balancing of academic and general trade’.”
