‘Never give up’: a community history of North Edinburgh

A new online exhibition provides an insight into the hidden history of North Edinburgh and its proud tradition of community activism.

‘Never give up’ focuses on the role of ordinary people in transforming one of Edinburgh’s first peripheral housing areas into a strong community during the austerity of the Post-War years. It shows how North Edinburgh has produced successive generations of activists who have challenged local and national policies to create a better place to live. This is a story of the struggle for social justice and a community who simply refuse to give up.

You can view the exhibition by logging on to the Scran website using your library card. “What is Scran?” you ask. Watch this short video and find out:

  1. Sometimes ithe motto “never give up” is a hard motto to follow when the trials and tribulations of life build up, however I’ve found another cliche is often true “It’s Always Darkest Before Dawn”. Thanks for posting this video.
