My happy childhood in care

Anyone who’s met or heard local author Margaret Irvine will know that visitors to McDonald Road Library are in for a treat on Saturday 26th February when Margaret will be dropping in to read from and discuss her book, Tenterfield, my happy childhood in care, which chronicles the story of her upbringing alongside 39 other children in a children’s home in Haddington in the years after the war.

In the age of the misery memoir it’s refreshing to read an account of someone growing up happily and usefully, so even if you can’t make it along make sure you reserve a copy of her book to collect from your nearest library.

The reading will take place from 3.30 to 4.30pm – contact McDonald Road Library to reserve your place.
