The Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) have just announced the shortlist for the annual Libraries Change Lives Award and The Edinburgh Reading Champion Project has been named as one of the three finalists!
We’re over the moon to be shortlisted alongside two other wonderful and inspiring projects;
- Sustainable services and support for families of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders - Leeds Library and Information Service
- Six Book Challenge – The Reading Agency in association with Costa Coffee
We’re all very proud of the positive impact that The Edinburgh Reading Champion Project has had on the reading habits of looked after children and young people in residential care in Edinburgh. Ongoing collaboration with a range of internal and external partners, including children, young people, carers, and library staff, has made it possible for our ‘bespoke’ Reading Champion to develop a range of programmes aimed at promoting reading as a hobby to be enjoyed; and one that can lead to improved self esteem and a feeling of personal achievement for everyone involved. The winner of the pretigious Libraries Change Lives Award will be announced on 15th July 2009 at CILIP’s annual flagship event, Umbrella. We’ll be there…with bells on! Looking forward to blogging live from the event and uploading photos of the award ceremony to our Flickr account!
Hurrah! Well done. Why does 15 July seem so far away? You will surely win. Surely. I shall cross my fingers and do some interpretive reading champion dancing.
