This year, as part of Britain’s biggest ever mass participation reading intiative, book lovers up and down the country are reading Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic adventure story about dinosaurs and exploration; The Lost World. And we’re inviting the people of Edinburgh to join us forwhat’s sure to be one of the best city-wide reads ever; marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and the bicentenary of the birth of Charles Darwin. Exciting stuff indeed!
Check out our short film below to experience the launch of the initiative for yourself:
You can pick up a free copy of The Lost World at your local Edinburgh City library branch. Or, if you haven’t got time to stop by your library or if your library has run out of stock then check out the easy to access free downloads of readers’ guides, adaptations (text & audio), activity sheets, and plot summary here.
And if that’s not enough for you then why not sign up for one of the Lost World Read 2009 events that are taking place throughout Edinburgh. Details can be found here.
Go on, be part of something big this February…participate in the nation’s biggest ever book group!
